A Quinta – Almancil – Portugal

Getting time with my family is one of my favourite things about Portugal, and tonight was a chance to catch up with my cousin Charlotte and her partner Ross who live out here year-round.  We were spending the evening at one of their (and my)

Pequeno Mundo – Almancil – Portugal

Once again, my favourite night of the year – dinner at Pequeno Mundo – in fact I’ve already written about this amazing restaurant in my Top Restaurants in the Algarve Round-Up!  It’s such a special place and has huge sentimental value for my family and

Maria’s is my favourite beach restaurant in Portugal and you can read about it on my Top Restaurants in the Algarve Round-Up.  Maria’s on a Sunday is always one of my favourite days of the year.  It’s such an amazing atmosphere, lunch in the sun, the Outsiders

The Best Restaurants in the Algarve – Quinta do Lago, Vale do Lobo & Almancil

Heading off on holiday next week has got me all excited about Portugal.  I’ve been going to Quinta do Lago ever since I can remember (I’m told I was 2 on our first visit) and there’s been very few years that I haven’t been there for

Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad

Watermelon, Feta & Mint Salad

Tonight, out in Portugal we were having family over for a BBQ and, being the food blogger in the family, I was in charge of creating the menu.  After having seen my Roasted Peach, Feta & Pistachio Salad and my Grilled Halloumi, Green Bean &

Garlic Butter Shrimp

Garlic Butter Shrimp

This garlic shrimp recipe takes minutes to cook and it’s such a fun way to eat – communal style from a big pan! You start by melting the butter over a low heat in a large pan until it has fully melted.

My story – All about Emma Eats & Explores!

My story – All about Emma Eats & Explores!

30-something and living in London, sitting at my desk, dreaming of travelling to far-flung places is how I spend most of my days – when I’m not thinking about what I’m going to eat and drink next!

I love food, wine, friends and seeing new places – I hate the cold and my happy place is anywhere where the sun is shining and I can be wearing flip-flops. Diagnosed with an autoimmune condition a few years ago (Systemic Lupus Erythamatosus – SLE) I realised that my body reacts badly to grains, starches and sugar and so I love to eat healthily and create healthier versions of some of my old favourites (think pizza/pasta/bread – I was a serious carb monster). Strictly self-taught I love playing around in the kitchen, seeing what new ideas I can come up with as well as trying recipes from the multitude of cookbooks on my kitchen shelf. Pescatarian for 16 years, I recently introduced meat back into my diet so I’m slowly learning how to cook all over again. I’ve always been interested in wine and recently I’ve done a WSET wine course so good food and good wine are huge passions of mine. Eating out is one of my favourite things to do so I hope to be able to review some restaurants on this blog.
